Mouth Breathing
Nasal Breathing
Nasal breathing should be done all day and night BY EVERYONE.
When we breathe through our nose it produces nitric oxide (regulates BP, immune defence, and increases oxygen flow to the brain)

Mouth breathing is known to our body as a flight or fight response which can:
-
increase stress
-
decrease quality of life
-
decrease academics, work and productivity
-
cause sleep disordered breathing (snoring, apnea and depression)
-
cause long face syndrome (tired eyes, underdeveloped nasal airway, jaw set back, undefined cheekbones)
-
cause head forward posture which results in neck pain, jaw tension, tension headaches
If we only breathe through our nose we can expect:
-
Better brain function (memory, information retention)
-
helps us relax and reduces stress
-
well defined cheekbones, jawbone
-
brighter alert eyes and improved posture
-
adequate saliva and fresher breath, less cavities
-
can help prevent snoring/sleep apnea
-
feel more rested
We can help you through myofunctional therapy with exercises that strengthen our facial muscles and train our body to breath exclusively through our nose to improve your quality of life!
